Man About Town

These are the menswear happenings to have on your radar, including spring and summer-ready Carhartt WIP gear, new Village PM sneakers, and aluminium Carl Friedrik carry-ons.

This Canali sneaker is for guys with nice cars

Picture this: It’s Friday and you’ve finished work. You’ve hit the road, escaping the city in your pre-1998 air-cooled Porsche 911, and you’re heading to a palatial pad in the countryside. That’s the kind of the vibe you get with the Canali Nivola sneaker, which is the Italian brand’s streamlined lace-up suede sneaker that features in its Spring/Summer 2026 collection. It boasts a solid stitched construction and low-profile design that works as well with a suit as it does a solid pair of selvedge jeans. They’re primed for grabbing the clutch and burning some rubber. The destination? La Dolce Vita, naturalmente.

Carhartt WIP dishes out another round from its SS26 collection

If the sight of that giant ball of gas in the sky is making you reconsider your wardrobe for the season ahead, it might be worth giving Carhartt WIP a look. The workwear-rooted imprint has a knack of nailing the hard-working (see what we did there?) components of menswear that you can throw on without trying too hard. Case in point, the buckle-back Belmont work trousers and boxy, collared Craft shirt. If that’s a bit of you, check it out here.

John Lobb wants you to shape up your seasonal shoe game

Man About Town

Sure, you can wear black shoes all year round. That’s all fine and dandy. But when the weather warms up a touch, you’ve got a bit more freedom to play around, free of murky puddles and non-stop rain. We recommended a loafer, because frankly there are very few garments that this slinky little slip-on won’t work with.  And John Lobb, purveyors of mega high quality handmade footwear, are very good at designing them. The Great British shoemaker has you covered with loafers in a host of seasonal colours spanning navy, cherry red and sand. So if colour is your jam, go wild king! Check them out here

Oakley taps into ’90s futurism with its new eyewear collection

Back in 1994, Oakley dropped the Eye Jacket, a curved set of sunglasses that clung to the face and sat high on the cheek bones, translating performance clothing into eyewear. They were designed for athletes, but with their mad, intergalactic vibe, it didn’t take long for them to catch on with the fashion crowd, too. Now, with the launch of its new Jackets line, Oakley is revisiting, and revamping that boundary-pushing design with models like the Plantaris, squaring off the rounded Eye Jacket. The Neoforma flows and wraps around your head like a trippy river on Mars, and the Terraforma takes things into a more uniform, rectangular shape. It’s all very good stuff that sits somewhere between smashing your half marathon PB and 4am in the rave. And in high-performance eyewear, that is a very good place to be. Shop here

Village PM’s 1PM sneaker gets a raise

If you’ve found yourself in cool parts of London or Paris of late, and you’ve taken a look at the floor, the chances are you’ve been in the presence of someone wearing the Village PM 1PM. The French skate shoe pulls from the durable, rubber-toed design language of climbing sneakers, and the end result is super wearable, sleek, and durable. Now, the guys at Village PM have got to work on a mid-top model, which adds a padded collar into the equation, offering a touch more support around the ankle if you’re skating (and also something that is very nice when you’re not skateboarding, too). Into it? Check them out here

Harry Lighton gets anointed as a Geordie Campbell British Boy

Geordie Campbell’s Spring/Summer 2026 collection was crammed with winners like curtain shirts and tiny athletic shorts – all divinely playful, fun menswear. And Pillion writer Harry Lighton is a fan. He connected with Campbell after wearing the brand’s sold out long-sleeve tee to the Mid-Atlantic leather convention, which is one of the largest in the world, by the way. The filmmaker features in a series of shots wearing the brand’s latest collection, including logo tees, shorts, shirts and knit cardigans while in the bath, shower, and chilling on the sofa. It’s all very playful and very Geordie Campbell British Boy.

Carl Friedrik launches aluminium collection

Frequent travel can put your suitcase through its paces. If you’re style-conscious, aluminium is a good place to land to protect your gear, offering something sleek, sturdy, and metallic. Design-led luggage label Carl Friedrick has joined the metal case party with the launch of the aluminium Carry-on case, which boasts a 38 litre capacity for all of your in-cabin needs. If you’re looking for something for the long haul, that’s coming, too. The brand is set to launch additional silhouettes later this year. You can shop the Carry-on here
