In Los Angeles, the British actor’s button-up delivered a masterclass in undone sexy.
Tom Blyth primed his suit for the red carpet, the after-party, and the unofficial after-after-party. And it all comes down to his shirt.
At the People We Meet On Vacation premiere in Los Angeles, the actor opted for a navy patterned silk button-up. Silk is soft, slinky, and louche, softening up the traditional structure of tailoring for something altogether more sexy, taken up a gear when unfastened at the neck, worn with a chunky silver chain, and shrouded by a relaxed, boxy jacket and loose trousers like Blyth. It’s a look for a guy who doesn’t need to be functional by 9:00am, and doesn’t say no to one more negroni for the road.

Why the softer vibe? Generally, movie premiere red carpets call for some kind of menswear sophistication, usually in the form of suits and tuxedos. And while certain scenarios like the Oscars call for the old-school Hollywood glamour of yore, the movie star tailoring of today is often more relaxed, and follows a general chilling out in the way guys dress.
Easy-going tailoring speaks to the suit’s eternal menswear power. Something as solid and stomping as a single-breasted jacket and relaxed-straight trousers can be worn without thought, capable of being dressed up and down to suit the occasion.
Sure, you can wear a classic shirt and tie, but if you want to inject some after-hours sexy, make like Tom Blyth and reach for the silk.
