The British actor has become the industry’s latest press tour style hero and he’s got some tricks up his sleeve, including a favoured range of frames.
It’s been a big summer of big photocalls for Tom Holland. Being featured in mega blockbusters Spider-Man: Brand New Day and The Odyssey has rolled out the carpet for a roster of big style moments alongside his infectious charm and handsome looks. Working with stylist Crystalle Cox, his fits have reached veteran levels of versatility, switching between Peter Parker-does-Prada and awry suiting in Jacquemus and Fear Of God. The one constant in this medley of heavy-hitting menswear? His trusty arsenal of Jimmy Fairly eyewear.
The actor cycled through three styles throughout the press tour. First off was The Idro, a rectangular frame with dainty arms and an overall slim silhouette made with cellulose acetate. In Paris for a photocall for The Odyssey, he paired them with a brown Balenciaga coaches jacket and trousers, a shirt and matching tie and pointed Christian Louboutin boots. With a very casual take on tailoring through the jacket silhouette and oversized nature of it all, the slender shape provides a nice balance that streamlines the overall look.
The Ettys are up next, a more rectangular and heftier silhouette with a ’70s-leaning vibe. He reached for these in Mumbai for The Odyssey photocall with a two-tone Jacquemus look, wearing a slouchy beige blazer with balloon-ish black trousers. These were also the frames of choice for another Balenciaga outfit, this time in a raw indigo double denim layered with a white button-up and T-shirt in Rome for Spider-Man. In both instances, The Ettys provide a touch of structural contrast to the more bulbous and roomy shapes they’re paired with.
His final style of choice is The Napoli, a more rounded square frame that’s as versatile as it gets. Nothing too flashy here and a rather complementary pair that worked as the perfect accessory for his radiant Prada look for the Spider-Man photocall in New York. Working with red and navy tones as per the Spider-Man suit colours, he wore a burgundy trucker jacket over a fiery red button-up with pleated navy trousers and heeled black boots. It’s a traditional and softer shape that works well to calm down the bolder tones in the look, keeping things business up top and party everywhere else.
So why does this trio of styles work so well? For one, they’re all very versatile, inoffensive shapes that could be interchangeably worn with any of the aforementioned outfits. Aside from some slight tweaks, they’re all classic frames that work to balance out the adventurous style moves of these press tours (cc that Spiderman-red Balenciaga suits) that’s seen Holland stray away from his menswear comfort zone during these press tours. They’re tried and tested, and rightfully remain a constant every time he steps out to a photo call. But, perhaps most importantly, they all suit his facial harmony quite perfectly. With a rather sharp, heart-shaped face, these glasses aren’t too angular and have softer edges to create a flattering harmony for his facial features.
