The London Menswear Stores You Need To Know

Words by

Man About Town

If there’s one thing the UK capital has on lock, it’s very nice stores that sell very nice clothes. Here are our picks of the best multi-brand hotspots, vintage emporiums, and must-visit flagships.

London might be expensive, crowded, and generally a bit crazy. But if there’s one thing it’s got down, it’s menswear stores.

And that’s something we should all get excited about. Because for all of online shopping’s convenience and ease, there’s nothing like getting up-close and personal with the products you’re buying. Not everything fits the same. Sometimes you might want to size up or down, and other things straight-up don’t work. You wouldn’t know this unless you’re shopping IRL. Plus, getting some good honest advice from the experts on the shop floor can go a long way.

With that in mind, we’ve rounded up the best menswear stores in London whether you’re visiting for the day, or you call the Big Smoke home.

Multi-brand shopping

Goodhood

Fresh from a mega refurb, which sees Goodhood’s Hanbury Street home expand its floorspace, Goodhood is the spot for your home and your wardrobe. With products from Noah NYC, Stüssy, Needles, Cav Empt, Aries, and Puma on the rails and Scandi homeware gems to go with them, it’s a mecca for east London cool guys with nice houses, expensive bikes, and annoyingly good wardrobes. It’s definitely not one to be missed off the list.

Dover Street Market

The collective genius of Comme des Garçons founder Rei Kawakubo and her husband, CDG President Adrian Joffe, Dover Street Market is a fashion temple in the heart of London. If sneakers, streetwear and emerging designers are your thing, you’re covered with the basement floor. Head up the store’s spiral staircase, and you’ll find Comme des Garçons sub labels, Loewe, Bottega Veneta, Kiko Kostadinov, Simone Rocha, Prada, Wales Bonner, and loads more. And make sure to check out Rose Bakery on the top floor.

Location: 18-22 Haymarket London SW1Y 4DG

LN-CC

Multi-brand retail is competitive, so standing out from the rest is a tough gig. But when you descend into Dalston’s LN-CC (Late Night Chameleon Club, if you were wondering), it feels like you’re entering a super cool bar in a movie. The space is designed by Gary Card, a set designer who worked on FKA Twigs’ Magdalene stage, and houses an IRL club space within the store. Product-wise, you’re getting brands like Miu Miu and The Row with emerging names including Charlie Constantinou and Nancy. All around very good vibes.

Location: Basement 18, Late Night Chameleon Cafe The, 24 Shacklewell Ln, London E8 2EZ

Machine-A

Machine-A has been supporting independent designers in the capital and beyond since it was founded in 2013. We’re talking Craig Green, Juntae Kim, Aaron Esh, Martine Rose, and that’s just a few. To top it off, there’s a finely curated mix from big dogs like Marni, Maison Margiela, Rick Owens, and Y-3. If you want to see the latest collections up close, and channel your inner fashion final boss, be sure to hit this one up.

Location: 13 Brewer Street, London, United Kingdom W1F 0RH

The Garbstore

Menswear Stores

One for the West London heads, Garbstore is a haven for guys who love solid menswear. With artfully curated rails packing heat from Kapital, Porter Yoshida, Mfpen, and A.PRESSE, inspired by the passion and dedication found in Japanese menswear stores, you’re in for a treat. A word of advice from us: don’t go in here with particular products in your head. Instead go in with an open mind, immerse yourself and trust your gut. You’ll be hard-pushed not to find something you like.

Location: 188 Kensington Park Rd, London W11 2ES

BSTN

Not one to swerve if you’re into rare sneakers and those lesser-seen pieces. BSTN’s Brixton store is a must-visit for menswearheads looking for the goods south of the river. With pieces from Martine Rose, Stone Island, Marni, Our Legacy, and Willy Chavarria, and loads more under one roof, and a mega brushed steel decor, shopping here feels like you’re entering into the archive of some high-fashion overlord.

Location: 395-397, 395 Brixton Rd, London SW9 7DG

Supreme

Man About Town

There’s not many skate shops that have lines snaking around the block each week. But then again, there’s not many skate shops like Supreme. What started as a hang out for NYC scene kids in 1994 is now one of the world’s most hyped streetwear labels. And with each weekly release comes hoards of hungry shoppers keen to score its scarcely supplied products. Inside the brand’s London spot, you’ll find skate decks, apparel and left-field accessories, but stock levels can run low and sell out pretty fast.

Location: 2/3 Peter St, London W1F 0AA

Our Legacy

Ask trendy people in trendy London pubs to list their top brands, and you’ll hear Our Legacy. The Stockholm imprint has made a name for itself with minimal staples like tailored overcoats, trousers, and suiting, but also does rag-tag knits, ripped denim and bomber jackets nicely, too. It’s this subversive wearability that makes it a hit. And you can get all of that from the brand’s Soho outpost.

Location: 1 Silver Place London W1F 0JW

Palace Skateboards

Palace’s Soho store is a hot spot for skate rats, hypebeasts, and fashion heads. Inside, you’ll find marble floors, curated rails of the skate brand’s products, and vibes soundtracked by tastefully turned-up house music. Who doesn’t want a bit of that?

If you are planning a visit, it’s best to do it around the weekend. Palace drops new products on Fridays, so for the best chance of bagging those in-demand items, head down early and join the queue.

Location: 26 Brewer St London W1F OSW

Drake’s

Man About Town

It would be criminal to talk about London and menswear and not mention Savile Row. And while finding the best London tailors is a whole different game, Drake’s is definitely worth a visit on the menswear front. As well as its made-to-order service, you’ve got ready-to-wear staples like denim, knitwear, ties, and a solid selection of jackets. Savile Row is the heart of Drake’s menswear operation, and definitely one to add to the hit list.

Location: 9 Savile Row, London W1S 3PF

Stüssy

Stüssy might have been born in Laguna Beach, but the easy going Cali vibes slap on the streets of London, too. Head down for high quality streetwear essentials like logo hoodies, tees, and caps. Or, if you’re feeling fancy, delve into the label’s fancy outerwear and grab a hands-on look at spicy collaborations when they release. They’ve got it all at Stüssy’s Soho hangout.

Location: 39 Brewer Street London W1F 9UD

LA NAUSÉE

Man About Town

Via @lanausee_store

LA NAUSÉE is the stealth spot sourcing archival pieces for guys like Pedro Pascal, Timothée Chalamet and Daniel Craig. Founded by Harry Tibble and Ross McLeish, it’s loaded with Margiela, Catherine Hamnett, Giorgio and Emporio Armani, and Helmut Lang. Beyond being just a store, it’s also got a mega archive available for rentals. So if you’re looking for a piece of wearable history, be sure to check this one out.

Location: Netil Corner, 2 Bocking Street, London, E8 4RU

Dukes Cupboard

Man About Town

Via @dukescupboard

Another Soho spot to add to the list (shopping in this part of town is a day-long activity), Dukes Cupboard is the place for your vintage designer, streetwear and sportswear. If rare Ralph Lauren, Evisu, and Supreme are up your street, you’re sweet with Dukes Cupboard. Plus, it’s across the road from Supreme, which makes it easy to hit both at once.

Location: 28 Peter St, London W1F 0AL

Jerks Store

Man About Town

Via @jerks.store

If you see a celebrity in a vintage graphic tee, and there’s a chance it came from Jerks store. This south London emporium was founded by Matt Sloane who got into the game by hunting through charity shops, picking up tees, and flipping them on e-Bay. Now it’s got its own IRL appointment-only spot in the capital, and a list of happy customers that includes Paul Mescal, Lorde, and Alexander Skarsgård.

Location: South London, SE14 (address on appointment, which you can book here).

194 Local

Menswear stores to know

Via @194local

If you’re into that vibey mix of vintage streetwear with high-end labels like Prada, Marithé et François Girbaud  and Comme des Garçons, look no further than Brick Lane’s 194 local. If this store was a person, it’d be the guy who has Larry Clark’s Kids on VHS, can tre flip but keeps it on the low, but also wears a Rolex, burns incense and drives a vintage Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon. Plus, 194 Local doesn’t just do vintage, it also makes limited runs of its own clothing. So it’s definitely worth a look.

Location: 178D Brick Lane, London E1 6SA
