Continuing its partnership with the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula 1 team, the watchmaker has unveiled a spicy take on its Pilot’s Watch Chronograph ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix.
The feeling of roaring 200mph through the streets of Singapore in a Formula 1 car is, sadly, something few of us will experience. But IWC Schaffhausen has bottled up some of that high-octane racing sauce and poured it into its F1 watch in partnership with the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula 1 team, made for the Singapore Grand Prix.
The Singapore race was introduced in 2008 and was the first F1 night race. Better still, it’s a street circuit, held in Marina Bay, the waterfront district known for its killer skylines and whopping architecture. As you can imagine, when you turn that into a race track, it makes for quite the event.
Ahead of the full-throttle festivities, IWC has launched a race-ready Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula 1 Team. Straight off the bat you’re met with a nod to the Singapore Grand Prix with a deep saturated purple dial. It serves as a tribute to Singapore’s national flower, an orchid bred by Armenian-Singaporean horticulturist Agnes Joaquim. It represents resilience, boldness and innovation, kind of like a precision engineered flower to match IWC and Mercedes’ own top-notch tech.

The dial is complemented by black hands, housed within a 41mm titanium case, featuring a functional purple rubber strap with IWC’s EasX-CHANGE quick release system and titanium pin buckle. Think of it like a Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 car, primed for the streets of Singapore at night, but on your wrist.
During a night race, the stakes are amped up a notch. The air is cooler, which means F1 cars can go faster with their improved engine efficiency. Couple that with a street circuit with tight turns and city walls, and timing is critical. Luckily, as seductive as IWC’s Pilot's Chronograph is in Purple, it’s also an incredibly trusty tool watch. It’s highly legible due to its size and packing 46 hours of power reserve thanks to IWC’s calibre 69385 movement. And in an event where times are tight, and every second counts, we can foresee these new tickers coming in clutch in the paddock.

The watch is the latest edition of IWC and Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula 1 team’s partnership, which first kicked off in 2013. In 2022, IWC launched the first official team watch with a PETRONAS blue edition of the Pilot’s Chronograph. To add to things, George Russell gave the Pilot’s Watch and Pilot’s Watch Chronograph a spin in his signature blue in January. It made a Big Pilot’s Watch Shock Absorber XPL Toto Wolff edition in February, too.
But in night mode, decked out in Singapore orchid purple, it’s looking extra crispy – primed perhaps, for a birthday watch upgrade from Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS’s very own Kimi Antonelli who celebrated his birthday this week?
