The lowdown on the football ace’s latest collection with the German label, straight from the exclusive Berlin launch event.

David Beckham scrubs up well. In the 1990s, he was well-versed in pushing the boundaries with full-leather fits, capris, and tank tops aplenty. But more recently, he’s found his rhythm in something a little smarter and refined, from colossal carry-alls, to deeply solid tailoring.

The football legend has brought these years of fashion XP into his collaboration with BOSS, which kicked off last year with the mission to emulate his personal wardrobe. “His instinct for modern style and his understanding of real versatility have shaped this collection from the start,” Marco Falcioni, Creative Director at HUGO BOSS shared in a statement. “Together, we set out to create new designs built on signature craftsmanship and quality that lasts. Every item is designed to feel relevant today, yet endure for seasons to come.”

What does that look like? It’s a combination of formal and more easy-going garments, ideal for nailing smart casual without leaning too hard into college professor territory, or a bad interpretation of dress down Friday in the office.

And three collections later, it’s hitting the same note, putting the focus on chill warm weather tailoring and casualwear. Sharp double-breasted suits come primed for your Centre Court spot at Wimbledon or a fancy late night dinner reservation. If something a little more relaxed is your vibe, then an unstructured charcoal blazer crafted from wool silk and linen, with added cashmere, might tick that box. There are also leather jackets, pleated cotton trousers, and a work jacket in a belter turquoise colourway. When Beckham jetted into Berlin to deliver an exclusive preview of the collection to press and friends of the brand, we saw it in action. Despite a packed schedule, with travelling part of the daily grind, he pulled up looking smart, put-together, and equally relaxed, pairing a grey blazer with brown trousers and sneakers from the new drop.

Beyond the statement pieces, the BOSS by Beckham collection is packed with outfit building blocks like T-shirts, denim and sneakers – the hardwearing good stuff that you’ll likely see the footie legend wearing during his biannual Paris Fashion Week trips. Because the trick to nailing your warm weather wardrobe isn’t just with the big hitters, it’s how you piece them together. Follow that playbook, and you should be set for a smooth sailing summer of big fits.
