On the American actor, no collar shall go unpopped.
In Los Angeles for Jimmy Kimmel Live yesterday, the actor wore a green Ralph Lauren Harrington jacket and olive equestrian-printed polo shirt. And he delivered an upturned collar double threat in the process.
A single collar pointed to the sky is preppy menswear 101. It was a tactic deployed by tennis players like René Lacoste in the 1920s for sun protection and evolved into a staple of country club attire in the ’70s and ’80s. But when you throw another one into the mix you’re adding some tasty layering to things and amping up the 2000s bad-boy attitude.

An upturned neck is also a key Ralph Lauren-ism where subtly rebellious preppy styling tactics imbue garments with the personality of who is wearing them. This was exemplified in the brand’s recent Spring/Summer 2027 menswear show in Milan, where models’ collars were popped, primed and flying out of jackets and jumpers, with similar necklines seen on Auralee, Celine, and Willy Chavarria’s runway shows.
Domingo, a devout member of the big fit menswear society, knows the power of personality-heavy styling. He complemented his double act with a madras baseball cap (also from Ralph Lauren) and Samuel Zelig’s Yearbook shorts.
He rounded off the ensemble with eggshell-coloured socks, Saint Laurent’s Le Loafer in a rich Vintage Bordeaux makeup and a minimised gold Omega Constellation watch – that’s how you pay homage to the great Mr Lauren and his signature styling, Domingo-ified with his favoured short shorts and loafers.
