In London, for the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean event, he had the perfect chance to prove it.

As an actor, Aaron Taylor-Johnson has range. He’s fresh from his turn as bomb disposal expert Major Will Tranter in Fuze. He’s also turned his skills to playing wealthy ship merchant Friedrich Harding in 2024’s Nosferatu, and comic book fiend turned real life superhero Kick-Ass, bagging the title role in 2010. But when it comes to his watches, he likes them with a similar versatility.

Case in point: Omega’s Seamaster Planet Ocean event in London last week. The blockbuster shindig meant Omega Ambassador Taylor-Johnson was in the Big Smoke to celebrate the timepiece’s launch. Ahead of the evening’s festivities, he was speaking to journalists before kick-off. Come night-time, he was wearing a breezy Haider Ackermann Tom Ford suit. The outfit change from a T-shirt and adidas Superstar sneakers to turbo-charged tailoring is severe. But the watch on the wrist, the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean in blue, stayed the same. That, ladies and gents, is a watch with ‘Go Anywhere, Do Anything’ (GADA) status, primed to a guy that’s always on the go. And yes, even if it is a high-end diver – you can wear it with what you like if you’re brave enough.

The newest iteration of the Seamaster Planet Ocean 600m was unveiled in November 2025, 20 years after the original. It draws on the angled design details of 1980s and 1990s Seamasters (the type of stuff that gets Omega heads fired up). But with a ceramic bezel and polished centre links, its all-round wearability is beefed-up. It whispers with a refined, rugged luxury vibe, aided by its ability to handle underwater depths up to 600 metres. And it’s at home with Taylor-Johnson, a Seamster guy who endeavours to start his days with a morning swim in the sea where possible. “There’s nothing better than being able to dive deep into the ocean and feel replenished,” he says.

Even though Aaron Taylor-Johnson flying the flag for Omega officially, joining the brand in May last year. He’s not the type of guy to cycle through loads of watches in rotation. Instead, he likes to keep things simple. “I’ve just changed one of the straps on my original Seamaster and that’s been really enjoyable. I don’t even take it off when I sleep, because I wake up quite a lot,” says Taylor-Johnson. “When I’ve been traveling a lot, my sleep pattern is so strange. So, when I wake up in the middle of the night, I like to have that luminous glow so I can actually tell the time. Even if my eyes are half open, and I can think, ‘go back to bed because it’s four in the morning.’ Rather than reaching for something like a phone that has a bright light.”

Perhaps avoiding the bright lights is a good thing, not just for his sleep, but his watch tastes, too. In an age where watch social media will make you believe you need a stacked collection filled with dress watches, divers, chronographs, and pilot’s tickers – sticking with one for every occasion is freeing. Knowing that your timepiece can keep up brings an assured kind of confidence. It becomes a part of who you are, and wears the patina of life proudly – and that’s exactly where the Omega Planet Ocean thrives. If you need any more proof of it’s universal wearability in any scenario look to fictional superspy James Bond. Models including references  2900.50.91, 2201.50.00, and 232.30.42.21.01.001 were enlisted in Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, and Skyfall, keeping up with his bad guy-busting antics no matter the situation. And with Taylor-Johnson allegedly in the running to play the role of the secret agent next, his preferences for tough, elevated GADA watches bodes very well indeed.
