thE ITALIAN FASHION HOUSE askS, wHAT IS TRUE?

For their Spring/Summer 2025 menswear collection, Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons invited guests to take a closer look at reality.

Words SOPHIE WANG

“Sometimes you decide things without necessarily understanding why,” Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons shared following the Prada Spring/Summer 2025 menswear show. An exploration of truth and reality amongst fantasy and imagination, the collection is, in the designers’ own words, “about ideas passing by the mind in a particular moment, put together carefully but in unexpected ways.”

And this is precisely what guests were invited to consider as they stepped into the fairytale escape created within the Deposito of the Fondazione Prada. Simple staple pieces reveal intricate detailing with a closer look, and wires turn collars and hems into movable entities — changing shape with its onlooker’s angle. Taking a step back or shuffling clockwise brings a new understanding to each look, revealing purposeful creases and signs of wear, surprising juxtapositions and proportions and a sense of life that anthropomorphises the garments.

“We wanted to create clothes that have lived a life, that are alive in themselves. There is a sense of spontaneity and optimism to these clothes - they reflect instinctive but deliberate choices, freedom,” Simons and Prada explain. “We wanted to make this about what you want to wear now. The essence, the truth, is simply that.”
