Danny Griffin
Having set hearts racing with his performance in Netflix’s latest fantastical drama, the young British actor is clear on where his fate lies.
Danny Griffin is undoubtably a star on the rise. Fresh from a standout role in Netflix’s supernatural hit ‘Fate: The Winx Saga’ where he plays the leading male Sky, the 23-year old is setting his sights on a long and diverse career. Due to the lockdown, Griffin has so far only managed to experience his new-found-fame through the lens of social media, but remains reflective and grateful for the journey he’s on and looks forward to being able to interact in person. For his Man About Town interview, Griffin opens up about starring in the hit show, the frustrations of being in lockdown, the need for escapism and how dressing up in his mum’s kitchen utensils sparked his passion for acting.
Here’s a little teaser for you:
The reaction to ‘Fate: The Winx Saga’ has been extraordinary. Is it something you expected when making the show?
I’ve been so pleasantly surprised. I can’t speak for other actors, but it’s sometimes best to expect the worst and therefore, if something comes out great, then it's a lovely surprise. With Winx, because we filmed it a year ago and it was an incredible experience, one of the best of my life, we finished it and moved on and you kind of forget about it. The reaction from people has been incredible and we feel so wonderful and so fortunate to have something that people find so engaging.
It must feel strange experiencing the reaction from within a bubble. What has it been like seeing millions of people engage so strongly with your character?
It’s literally the best feeling ever. It’s definitely a coping mechanism, you know? If you do a job that’s based on a character and the people growing up with that character appreciate that performance, it’s a wonderful feeling. I’m incredibly grateful for the response, and I am in a bubble and the only reminder of that is going onto social media and seeing my follower count and thinking ’Oh Jesus!’ Other than that I’ve not really had a taste of the reaction, but I’m excited for it though!
