Archie Renaux

With a host of hit shows already under his belt, the British actor and young father has a bright future ahead of him – starting with Netflix’s new fantastical thriller, Shadow and Bone.

While many of us are guilty of taking a sleepy approach to the past twelve months, Archie Renaux has had other ideas. In the past year, the 23-year-old Londoner has been flat out, journeying through the mythical realms of Netflix’s latest Shadow and Bone and setting sail on a hedonistic spaceship in Voyagers all while becoming a father to a baby girl.

After being cast opposite Ben Barnes as the brooding bleach-blond Leo in BBC 1’s Gold Digger in 2019, Renaux quit his “normal job” to pursue a career as a full-time actor, going from strength to strength and quickly landing the lead in fantasy series Shadow and Bone. Based on the novels of Leigh Bardugo, it follows the story of Alina Skarkov and Malyen ‘Mal’ Orestev (played by Renaux) as they attempt to unite in the face of adversity, navigating the war torn realm of Ravka and the grasps of the Darkling.

“I want my roles to cover as wide a spectrum as possible so I’m not pocketed into doing a certain thing,” Renaux tells Man About Town in his cover interview.

Despite a hectic year, the actor shows no sign of slowing down. Amidst script reading and turning his hand to producing, the actor sits down to chat to Man About Town about his love of Star Wars, true crime documentaries and Hungarian goulash.

Archie wears Phipps on the cover of Man About Town's SS21 issue, which also features Jacob Elordi, Cody Fern, Thomas Doherty, Tom Daley, Regé-Jean Page, Tahar Rahim, IDK, AJ Tracey and many more.
