Considering the time difference, I expect a groggy Tom Holland when I call him to discuss his latest movie, Spider-Man: Far From Home, but I am met instead with a chirpy “hello mate! How are you doing?” Holland, as it turns out, is already on the golf course. “I’m shooting a movie in Alabama at the moment, and they last minute gave me the day off. I was awake anyway to go to work, so I came down to play some golf. I’m on my own as well, so it’s quite nice to have someone to talk to. Welcome to my round of golf!”

Tom Holland was born in South West London, in the sleepy town of Kingston. His break came at 11, when he landed the titular role in the West End run ofBilly Elliot, playing the character for a couple of years. A series of film and TV roles followed, namely the son of Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor’s characters in tsunami-thrillerThe Impossible, before he landed his golden egg: Peter Parker, or Spider-Man, in Marvel’sCaptain America: Civil War. From then, he has starred in countless other MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) movies, been given his own series of films, and has been talked about as the best wearer of the iconic suit to date.
