Parks Project and Garrett Leight California Optical Release Limited-Edition Big Sur

National park outfitter, Parks Project and iconic eyewear brand, Garrett Leight California Optical will release a quintessentially Californian collaboration to honor their roots and celebrate one of the state’s best-known parks, Big Sur.

With a shared love for the sun, sand, mountains, and ocean, the capsule collection includes items that can be enjoyed within nature's most precious elements.

The range features the first-ever eco-friendly sunglasses from GLCO, engineered with biodegradable acetate and Sport Utility Vision (SUV) lenses.

From the redwoods to the rugged coastline, the best of California can be found in Big Sur.
This limited-edition line includes a t-shirt, beach towel, sweatsuit, water bottle, and upcycled fanny pack all emblazoned with a modern wave pattern mirroring the locale’s one-of-a-kind views.

This collection will also include GLCO’s first-ever eco-friendly sunglass style made with bioplastic acetate, derived from vegetable starch and bioethanol. The “SUV” lenses offer100% UV protection and a built-in color equalizing technology to protect eyes and reduce light intensity. The outer case, cleaning cloth and case wrapper are all produced from a portion of recycled materials.

“Big Sur is one of my favorite parklands and protecting it was one of the main reasons we started Parks Project,” said Parks Project CEO and co-founder Keith Eshelman. “Garrett and I have been friends for years and have always admired one another’s work, so we couldn’t be more excited to honor California with this exclusive collection". Parks Project and GLCO believe in protecting places like Big Sur so future generations can continue to enjoy it’s all-encompassing beauty; a portion of every item from the collection goes toward defending the nearby Ventana Wilderness.

This collection drives home the simple idea and Parks Project’s mantra: leave it better than you found it. “Everything about this partnership felt authentic to me from the beginning,” said Leight. “For GLCO, taking small steps to reduce our footprint and become more sustainable has been, and continues to be, a priority. I couldn't have asked for a better partner to launch our first eco-friendly frame with, and give back to protect the nature of our beautiful state in an impactful way.” You can shop the capsule now HERE.
