“I'm really lucky because I'm able to work in both places which is amazing. I really want to build a career in Latin America. I'm more connected, of course, to our stories, but every time Hollywood wants me there, I'll be there for sure. I think Hollywood represents the Mecca of cinema, you know? They have the really big stories and the really big names, and I learn a lot every time I go there. So if I can play on both sides, that would be amazing.”

Almost a year on from Diego Calva's Golden Globe-nominated breakout role in Babylon, the actor is swiftly making a home for himself in cinema’s highest ranks. Covering our Autumn/Winter 2023 issue, he talks balancing Hollywood’s calls with a yearning to tell Latin-American stories, becoming fast friends with Jacob Elordi on the set of their upcoming film On Swift Horses and why one day he’d like to, himself, be sat in the director’s chair.
